Dover Scores Sixth-Place Showing During Huset’s Speedway Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (May 11, 2021) – Jack Dover garnered a top-10 result during his season debut behind the wheel of a 410ci winged sprint car.

Dover was efficient throughout the Mother’s Day Opener at Huset’s Speedway last Sunday when he piloted the Rick and Chris Bowers owned No. 81 to a sixth-place showing.

“I set a goal for myself of getting through the night in one piece,” Dover said. “I wanted everything to go smooth and finish in the top 12 in the feature. We were able to finish in the top half of that number. As a team we can be more prepared, but I was really pleased with how things went. Every week you have to fine-tune some things, but we didn’t have to make too many adjustments.”

Dover qualified sixth quickest and he finished where he started – third – in a heat race. That missed the feature redraw by only one spot and lined Dover up on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.

“In the first four laps we got to seventh,” he said. “Later we were battling with Carson McCarl for sixth when (Brooke) Tatnell got back by me. We picked up a spot when (Justin) Henderson had an incident and on the last lap I was able to sneak by Chris Martin on the bottom.

“The biggest fine-tuning is me. I forget to breathe. Once I tell myself to start breathing and get in my rhythm we’ll be all right. Everything happens so fast. I need to get in the 410 rhythm.”

Dover will have two more opportunities this weekend as the team is slated to race on Saturday at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, S.D., and on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway with the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association. He will kick off the weekend in his own sprint car on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb.
